The demand for high efficient, low cost energy converter is always attract the attention of energy facilitators worldwide. The article describes the design of the axial flux, low cost, low speed, permanent magnet (PM), toroidal generator (Torus), which is aimed to use for renewable energy applications. It is shown that the Torus is a prospective approach for the wind power application in Vietnam. Furthermore, the development of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for sustainable design application i.e. Net Zero Energy Building (NZEB) requests the high efficient, small size, reliable generator to utilize the onsite renewable energy. The article contents start from energy consumption demand in Vietnam and then analyses and configurations trade off best match to low wind speed profile. Finally, the design criteria for low cost, toroidal winding, permanent magnet generator achieved and illustrated. This disk type AFPMG proved itself as best match type generator in 6D BIM applications in Vietnam. Keywords: Sustainable design; CFD; BIM
